Introducing low seal initiation temperature BOPP film in matt option / Suitable for pinch bottom sealing
Indian flexible film manufacturer Uflex (Noida; www.uflexltd.com) has introduced a new BOPP film touted as a “game changer for big bags.” The company’s new low SIT, high seal strength biaxially oriented PP film comes in a matt option, but still has the high coefficient of friction needed for stacking onto pallets. Big bags made using the new film meet the drop tests outlined by ASTM standards, the company said, adding that other characteristics include high haze (>75%), a seal initiation temperature of 108 °C, low gloss on the matt side, good contact transparency as well as excellent homogeneity. Uflex said the film exhibits high hot-tack strength and has a paper-like matt look that significantly enhances its aesthetics.
Apart from allowing good stacking, the new film is also suitable for pinch bottom sealing, Uflex said. The process of step-cut sealing at the bottom of the bag through hot air purging is said to offer a truly leak-proof seal compared with other methods, including bottom fold taping or stitching.
Uflex in summer this year set up a subsidiary in Poland (see Plasteurope.com of 19.07.2016). In addition to its production facilities in India, the group also runs plants in Mexico, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, the US and now also Poland.
