Acquisition of majority stake in Spanish compounder Repol / Expansion of PA 6 business

Ube Corporation Europe (Castellón / Spain; www.ube.es), the European subsidiary of Ube Industries (Tokyo / Japan; www.ube.com), is to acquire Spanish compounder Repol (Almassora; www.repol.com). The companies have entered into an agreement for the transfer of shares. Financial details of the transaction have not been disclosed.
Repol compounds polyamide 6, polyamide 6.6, polypropylene, POM and other engineering plastics for injection moulding and extrusion applications in the automotive, industrial and E&E sectors. The company was founded in 1975 and has 61 employees as of 8 April 2019. Javier Miguel is managing director.
Ube Industries plans to grow its PA 6 business for both extrusion and injection moulding applications. Repol says logistics, acquisition of raw materials and improved productivity will be enhanced through the collaboration between both companies. The transaction is also expected to bring synergies to R&D and recycling activities.
