Production of FIBCs and woven plastic sacks kicks off in Saudi Arabia / Necessary machinery supplied by Austria's Starlinger
In the first half of 2011, Saudi Arabia’s United Accredited Company (UAC, Jeddah) commissioned a new plant manufacturing flexible intermediate bulk containers (FIBCs), flexitanks, container liners and small-size bags. The plant’s machinery – including a tape extrusion line, winders and circular looms – was fitted by Austria’s Starlinger (Vienna; www.starlinger.com).

During phase 1 of the new facility’s operation, UAC plans to convert more than 12,000 t/y of PP and PE into woven plastic sacks. The plant creates about 300 new jobs, according to the company, which is part of the Alamoudi Group (Jeddah / Saudi Arabia; www.alamoudi.org). UAC plans to continue ramping up the plant’s capacity and to start up other production hubs abroad.
