New sorting plant for lightweight packaging in the Netherlands
Waste disposal and recycling company Tönsmeier (Porta Westfalica / Germany; www.toensmeier.de) is opening a new sorting plant for lightweight packaging in the town of Zwolle / The Netherlands. In terms of the technology employed, the plant for sorting 100,000 t/y of lightweight packaging will be based on the specifications of the German Packaging Act and will cost some EUR 30m, as well as providing 60 jobs. Commissioning is scheduled for January 2020.
Tönsmeier already processes lightweight waste from the Netherlands and has recently won two regional tenders in the country. These activities are to be concentrated in Zwolle.
The family-run company with over 3,000 employees operates more than 30 processing, sorting and recycling plants and is currently subject to a high-profile acquisition by GreenCycle (Neckarsulm / Germany; www.greencycle.de), the recycling subsidiary of Schwarz Gruppe and familiar as the holding company of discount chain Lidl – see Plasteurope.com of 28.08.2018.
