Since its acquisition in January 2024, Wentus, now operating as Trioworld Höxter, has supplemented Trioworld’s consumer packaging division with films for food. The product portfolio includes packaging for frozen food, meat, fish, poultry, bread, and processed cheese as well as customised food films for lamination and pouch production.

To complement the four existing lines, five additional film extrusion lines are supposed to be installed in Höxter by the end of the year, as Christof Renz, managing director of Trioworld Höxter, reported at the FachPack trade fair in Nürnberg, Germany. However, Renz did not provide any information regarding production capacity. Word was that a new 8-colour flexographic printing press is also supposed to be put into operation. Trioworld currently employs around 240 people in Höxter.
“We want to further expand our market position in Europe and North America,” the MD said. The Trioworld group has been owned by the Swedish private equity company Altor since 2018 and employs around 1,800 people at production and recycling sites in Sweden, Denmark, the Netherlands, France, Germany, the UK, and Canada. Annual sales amount to around EUR 1 bn.
Its most recent acquisitions include the takeover of the French packaging manufacturers Palamy and Beaudet et René Jean Emballage from Sopal in July 2024. In recent years, the company has focused on acquisitions in the UK and Canada, including the recycler Reviva and film manufacturers Eurofilm Extrusion, Quality Films, and Malpack.

At FachPack, Trioworld presented a stretch film for securing loads with a 30% proportion of post-consumer recycled material (PCR) and a stretch hood made with 70% PCR. It also presented flexible packaging for wet wipes that consists of 35% PCR LDPE sourced from beverage carton reclaim.
Trioworld Höxter was honoured for this packaging solution with the German Packaging Award this year. Its cooperation with recycler Saperatec (Dessau-Roßlau, Germany; www.saperatec.de) makes it possible to extrude this material in Höxter.
