Swedish polyethylene films maker Trioplast said it is now trading under the name Trioworld (Smålandsstenar / Sweden; www.trioworld.com), and the company is reorganising into five business areas – stretch film, industrial film, healthcare film, carrier bags and consumer packaging.
The group, with sales of EUR 550m, said it also wants to increase the recyclability of its plastics. "We have to optimise the use of plastics and reduce our customers’ carbon footprint," said CEO Andreas Malmberg, "The most important factor on this path is the use of recycled plastics. We want to achieve a share of over 30% recycled plastics by 2025 and are striving for a long-term goal of more than 50%."
At the end of 2019, the company acquired Dutch film manufacturer Apeldoorn Flexible Packaging (AFP, Apeldoorn; www.afpholland.com) from the previous owner Jindal (New Delhi / India; www.jindalfilms.com) (see Plasteurope.com of 28.11.2019). With production sites in Sweden, Denmark, the Netherlands and France and around 1,200 employees, Trioworld is a leading European PE film manufacturer. In 2018, the group was taken over by Swedish investment company Altor (Stockholm; www.altor.com – see Plasteurope.com of 06.04.2018).
Last year, the manufacturer launched a hand stretch film with reclaim content of 75%, of which at least 51% came from post-consumer recyclates (see Plasteurope.com of 10.09.2020).
