TREXEL
Combination of "MuCell" with Ticona's long-fibre reinforced thermoplastics
"MuCell" developer Trexel (Woburn, Massachusetts / USA; www.trexel.com) has established a method to combine the physical microcellular process with the long-fibre reinforced "Celstran" thermoplastics from Ticona (Kelsterbach / Germany; www.ticona.com). The technique is claimed to bring a considerable reduction in manufacturing costs while retaining superior mechanical properties and dimensional stability. A screw has been designed and tested that will bring potential weight savings of 10% and a 10-20% cycle time reduction, Trexel says. The US company intends to introduce the development together with third generation MuCell technology during the Fakuma trade fair (www.fakuma-messe.de) from 14 to 18 October 2008.
