The 14th edition of plastics and rubber trade show “Iran Plast” (www.iranplast.ir) in Tehran / Iran, which was originally scheduled for 20-23 September 2020, has now been postponed and will take place from 29 October to 1 November 2020. The location will remain at the Tehran Permanent International Fairground.

The annual event is organised by the Iranian National Petrochemical Company (NPC, Tehran; www.english.nipc.ir). Iran Plast attracts national and international exhibitors, with the latest figures totalling around 1,000.

The coronavirus pandemic is changing the geostrategic situation in the Middle East. Iran has been heavily impacted, and a humanitarian crisis is looming due to the outbreak. International pressure on the US to relax sanctions against Iran has been growing, but the US government remains unwilling to do so. The US reportedly even added new sanctions in mid-March 2020, while at the same time offering humanitarian aid, which was rejected by Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. US Department of State spokesperson Morgan Ortagus said there are channels for humanitarian exports supported by Switzerland through which medical equipment can be purchased.
