Tosaf (Afula / Israel; www.tosaf.com), the compound, additive and masterbatch manufacturer, has a newly developed white masterbatch for extrusion coating applications, claimed to show increased heat stability while significantly reducing smoke and odour when processed at high temperatures. The new masterbatch, sold under the “ME800047” trade name, is also said to contribute to a higher production efficiency compared to traditional products.
The company says the new masterbatch maintains its high dispersion quality despite extremely high processing temperatures, resulting in a consistently homogenous coating and reducing the need for filter changes during production. Gel formation is also said to be significantly reduced. Tosaf adds that the masterbatch can be applied in thin layers, allowing material savings. What’s more, it does not contain migrating additives, provides high corona retention, good printability and reduced die buildup.
