Introducing “green” flame retardant masterbatch for pipe applications / REACH-compliant
Israeli compound, additive and masterbatch manufacturer Tosaf (Afula; www.tosaf.com) has launched a new “green” flame retardant masterbatch, designed for use in corrugated pipes that serve as conductors for electrical cables in construction. In an October announcement, the company said the new grades not only contain no chlorinated additives – banned under the REACH – but they also meet the Low Smoke Zero Halogen regulation. The grades are available either without or in the colour requested by the customer.
Tosaf added the masterbatch allows producers to reduce dosing requirements and comes at no additional cost for the pipe producer. The company said its latest innovation represented “the most advanced and cost-effective products on the market for this application.”
A joint venture between Megides Holding and the Ravago Group, Tosaf is expected to post revenues of more than EUR 300m this year. The company’s 800 employees are spread across nine sites located in Israel, Turkey, Germany, the UK, The Netherlands and Ukraine. Earlier this year, the group expanded its laboratories in Israel – for more details, see Plasteurope.com of 22.07.2013.
