Increase in vapour deposition capacities in JPY 3 bn investment / Expansion of food packaging film production at three Asian sites
Toray Industries (Tokyo / Japan; www.toray.com) has embarked on a series of investments worth around JPY 3 bn (EUR 23.5m) to increase its vapour deposition facilities for food packaging films in Asia.
Toray Advanced Film (TAF, Tokyo / Japan) will install vapour deposition equipment to produce aluminium-metallised PP film at its Fukushima / Japan plant, to be operational in October 2013. The investment will roughly double the aluminium vapour deposition capacity at the facility to 13,200 t/y.
Toray subsidiary Penfibre (Penang / Malaysia; www.toraypenfibre.com) will introduce similar equipment with technical support from TAF with the aim of starting production of metallised PET film in April 2014. The equipment will provide 4,500 t/y capacity for PET metallisation. Additionally, Thai Toray Synthetics (Bangkok / Thailand) has completed an expansion of its CPP film forming production facility, bringing its capacity to 6,600 t/y.
