TORAY
Plans for French polyester film plant
Following its acquisition of the Rhone Poulenc polyester film business last year, Toray Industries Inc (European HQ: 7 Old Park Lane, GB-London W1Y 4AD) now plans to invest in renewing polymerisation facilities at the French plant and increasing film production capacity. Over the next two years the Japanese company will invest JPY 13bn to increase capacity for polyester film for magnetic tape by 30% to 40,000 t/y. The new capacity will reduce the need for Toray to ship polyester films from Japan to meet growing demand in the European market for these products.
