Japanese technology group Toho Tenax (Tokyo; www.tohotenax.com), part of Teijin’s (Tokyo / Japan; www.teijin.com) carbon fibres and composites business, will introduce a new filament yarn type at the upcoming “Composites Europe” fair (www.composites-europe.com), held in Stuttgart / Germany from 22-24 September. Part of the UTS fibre family, “Tenax” E ITS50 F23 24K 1600tex has a modulus that is 10% higher than the 5100 MPa of standard UTS fibre grades.
Key applications for the material include pressure vessels and thin-walled composites that require a high degree of stiffness, Toho Tenax said.
