Daimler contract for Mercedes-Benz fuel tank systems
TI Automotive (Auburn Hills, Michigan / USA; www.tiauto.com) has been selected as the global supplier of fuel tank systems for several high-volume Mercedes-Benz models. Through the agreement with Daimler (Stuttgart / Germany; www.daimler.com), the largest single-source contract placed with the company, TI Automotive will provide seven variants of plastic fuel tanks, fuel filler pipes and fluid carrying lines. They will be supplied from different geographical locations close to the respective Mercedes-Benz production sites in Germany and on other continents.

In addition, TI Automotive has acquired full ownership of its 50:50 Japan-based Mitsuba Walbro (MWI) manufacturing joint venture through the purchase of the remaining shares from Mitsuba (Kiryu City / Japan; www.mitsuba.co.jp). MWI manufactures fuel pump motor armatures and fuel pump modules under the TI Automotive brand. The jv will be renamed TI Automotive Japan (Gunma). It presently employs 100 people in its facilities in Isesaki, Gunma Prefecture / Japan.
