Halogen-free LCPs launched for electrical applications
Ticona Engineering Polymers (Kelsterbach / Germany; www.ticona.com) has introduced two halogen-free liquid crystal polymer (LCP) grades for electrical and electronic applications.
The “Vectra” G Series products are inherently flame resistant and designed to outperform traditional flame resistant, high temperature polyamides and PBTs that require lead-free soldering resistance. They offer excellent dimensional stability in thin-wall parts, even at temperatures of more than 260 °C, where existing flame-retardant polymers struggle, the company said.
“Vectra G131 and G331 are glass- and mineral-filled LCPs designed to help electrical/electronic customers meet demanding lead-free soldering and halogen-free requirements and steer clear of costly corrosion and maintenance issues,” remarked Ed Hallahan, marketing manager for the Vectra LCP business.
Vectra G131 is 35% glass-filled and Vectra G331 is 35% mineral- and glass-filled.
