TICONA
High strength POM developed
Ticona (Kelsterbach / Germany; www.ticona.com) has developed a high strength grade of polyoxymethylene (POM), which it claims combines the mechanical characteristics of homopolymers with the chemical properties of copolymers.
Chemical resistance studies conducted on the new grade, “Hostaform” HS15 (high strength), showed no significant weight loss even after storage in 95 °C water for 12 weeks, the company said. Comparable homopolymer materials incurred significant weight loss under the same conditions, it noted. The product also exhibits superior thermal stability compared with homopolymers, Ticona added.
