In June 2014 ThyssenKrupp Plastics (Essen / Germany; www.thyssenkrupp-plastics.de) added the decking floor boards manufactured by TimberTech (Wilmington, Ohio / USA; www.timbertech.com) to its wood plastic composites (WPC) portfolio. The move is set against the backdrop of solid growth in the WPC market, which has expanded by double digits in the last few years – see also Plasteurope.com of 08.01.2014. The new product portfolio is supposed to attract new clients, ThyssenKrupp Plastics said.
The TimberTech floor boards include three different types. The first, the solid “ReliaBoard” is priced at the level of an extruded floor board, while the “Twin Finish” model is reported to be particularly easy to process and the solid “Earthwood Evolution” is resistant to stains thanks to its plastic sheathing.
In the US, one of the largest global WPC markets, demand is forecast to rise by 9.8% annually, reaching USD 5.5 bn in 2018 – for details, see Plasteurope.com of 11.06.2014.
