THRACE PLASTICS
Joint venture in geosynthetic clay liners with Eurobent / Facility built in northern Greece
Thrace Plastics (Xanthi / Greece; www.thracegroup.com) has established a production plant with Thrace Eurobent, jointly owned by Thrace Plastics and geosynthetic clay specialist Eurobent (Swidnica Slaska / Poland; www.eurobent.com), for the manufacture of waterproof products based on geosynthetic clay liner. The facility has been built in Thrace, in the north of Greece and will contribute to the extension of Thrace Plastics’ range of technical fabrics. It is expected to be fully operational by the end of February 2015.
Output from the plant will be used in environmental projects such as sanitary landfills and irrigation projects and will be distributed internationally. Thrace produces a range of technical fabrics used in a wide range of applications including construction, agriculture, automotive and floor coverings. The company also produces packaging solutions ranging from bags, films and liners to crates, bottles and caps.
Half of the company’s production is in Greece, which also accounts for 15% of its sales, which totalled EUR 265m in 2012. It has 17 group companies based in 12 countries around the world with a total of 1,590 employees. It will have a presence at the “IPM” horticultural trade fair, held in Essen / Germany from 27 to 30 January (www.ipm-essen.de/world-trade-fair) and at the “Techtextil” trade fair for technical textiles and nonwovens in Frankfurt / Germany from 4 to 7 May (www.techtextil.messefrankfurt.com).
