Plastics processing company wants to go public / New investments planned
The Greek plastics processing company Thrace Plastics Co SA (Xanthi, Northern Greece) applied for its stocks to be quoted on the stock exchange in Athens. This is intended to raise the funds (2.57bn Drachmen) required for the construction of a new factory and the acquisition of some smaller companies in the industry. According to the information provided, Thrace Plastics, with a capital expenditure of Dr 1.7bn wants to build a plant for the production of synthetic fibres and yarns. The company, which employs 150 people, manufactures and markets products made of polypropylene. The range of products comprises packaging articles and products for agriculture use, arts and crafts materials and synthetic yarns for carpets.
In 1993 (1992), the company achieved a turnover of Dr 3.38bn (2.99bn) and a net profit of Dr 524m (50m). For 1994, sales of Dr 4.97bn and a net profit of Dr 1.3bn are expected. In the first quarter, a net profit of Dr 0.567bn, with sales of Dr 2.32bn – Dr 1.3bn of which are offshore sales – were achieved.
