THOMPSON PLASTICS
UK moulding group acquired through MBO
Thompson Plastics Group (Hull, East Yorkshire / UK; www.thompson-plastics.co.uk) has been bought through a management buyout for an undisclosed sum. The management team, led by group managing director Richard Clynes, acquired the business, which has a turnover of GBP 40m, from its co-founder Andrew Eavis, who has chaired the company for 14 years. An external private investor was also involved in the deal.
The group comprises two companies and employs around 560 people at five sites across the UK. Thompson Plastics (Hull) produces large format exterior mouldings for the touring caravan, motor home and trailer industries and sanitary components for washrooms and bathrooms. Thompson Technik (Newcastle / UK) supplies plastic components to off-highway vehicle, aircraft interior and industrial product manufacturers and produces plastic components for the refrigeration and air conditioning market and the building industry.
