Swiss packaging giant Tetra Pak (Pully; www.tetrapak.com) is to build a EUR 24m plant at its Rayong site in Thailand, with annual capacity to produce more than 3 bn plastic closures for carton packaging. The new facility, which will create around 60 jobs when it opens in early 2018, will provide much-needed local production and essential extra capacity, the company said. The production unit will be located within the company’s existing straws and strips plant in Rayong.
Michael Zacka, Tetra Pak South Asia vice president, said a packaging material factory will open in Vietnam as well in 2019, the fourth in southern Asia alone.
