Agreement to acquire German long-time supplier BT Bautechnik / Acquisition still has to meet regulatory approval
A little more than a month after parting with its US profile subsidiary Chelsea Building Products (Oakmont, Pennsylvania; www.chelseabuildingproducts.com) – see Plasteurope.com of 27.07.2011 – Belgium’s Tessenderlo (Brussels; www.tessenderlo.com) on 9 September 2011 announced that it had signed an agreement to acquire German waste water fittings manufacturer BT Bautechnik (Oberschleißheim; www.bt-bautechnik.de). The sale comprises BT Bautechnik’s production facilities in Germany and Hungary. Terms of the agreement, which still has to meet the necessary regulatory approval, were not disclosed although Tessenderlo did say the business would be integrated into its Plastic Pipe Systems business unit.
BT Bautechnik, which posted revenues of EUR 20m in 2010 and employs 125 workers, has supplied Tessenderlo with PVC construction parts for many years. Albert Vasseur, director of Plastics Converting at the Belgian group, said the acquisition was “fully in line with the business unit’s strategy,” adding that, “we will provide an enlarged product portfolio to our customers, create a stronger presence in central and eastern Europe, and enhance our storm water management offering.”
