In a deal the financial details of which were not disclosed, German engineering plastics distributor and compounds producer Ter Plastics Polymer (Herne; www.terplastics.com) has acquired a majority share in Poland’s Polimarky Performance Polymers (Rogoznica). The purchase was reportedly completed on 1 April, and the Polish company has since been renamed Terez Performance Polymers. The exact shareholder balance remains unclear.
Commenting on the purchase, Ter Plastics Polymer’s managing director Wolf Koehler said, “With our own production subsidiary we can now expand our position as a development partner to our customers.” He added that the deal was in line with the group’s short-term goal of becoming one of Europe’s five leading distributors – for details, see Plasteurope.com of 24.10.2013.
Terez Performance Polymers has a nameplate capacity of 25,000 t/y, comprising a range of compounds based on ABS, SAN and PC, among others. The site in southeastern Poland also includes a development centre as well as a colour centre, both of which are integrated into the building.
When reporting the acquisition, Koelher said that Ter Plastics Polymer – part of the Hamburg-based Ter Group (Germany; www.tergroup.com) – will be making another announcement at the upcoming Fakuma plastics processing trade fair (www.fakuma-messe.de), held from 14 to 18 October in Friedrichshafen / Germany.
