Recycled PA compounds now available in Europe / Opening up major source of supply in tight market
Plastics compounder Teknor Apex (Pawtucket, Rhode Island / USA; www.teknorapex.com) is now supplying recycled polyamide compounds in Europe, drawing on its experience in the US. The “Chemlon” 500 range of engineering thermoplastics is based on PA 6.6, including unfilled, impact-modified and glass-reinforced compounds. Teknor said the compounds are supported by its upstream recycling capabilities, including a consistent supply of high-quality PA fibre feedstock.
“The assured quality of Chemlon 500 series compounds is based on our broad experience with polyamides, both virgin and recycled,” said Michael Roberts, vice president of Teknor’s Engineering Thermoplastics division. “These compounds process with a high degree of lot-to-lot consistency and yield finished products that exhibit good surface appearance and dimensional stability.”
Teknor recommends the compounds for automotive and office furniture uses, along with other applications where cost savings or mandates for recycled content are key considerations.
