A rigid PVC compound for outdoor applications that provides high weather and UV resistance and improved performance in processing and fabrication has been introduced by custom compounder Teknor Apex (Pawtucket, Rhode Island / USA; www.teknorapex.com).

“Apex” RE-9218 has been developed as a competitively priced alternative to existing rigid PVC products designed to resist UV light, heat, and moisture found in outdoor applications, the company said. It has an improved surface appearance and can be supplied in speciality colours.

Michael Renzi, business development manager in the vinyl division of Teknor Apex, said: “The enhancements provided by Apex RE-9218 include improved flow properties for intricate profile structures, greater Izod impact resistance for post-extrusion cutting and fabrication, and a smoother, more appealing surface finish.”
