TEKNOR APEX
Introducing “Flexalloy” PVC elastomer for cold and demanding industrial conditions
The Vinyls division of US custom compounder Teknor Apex (Pawtucket, Rhode Island; www.teknorapex.com) has introduced “Flexalloy” 9614-73, a PVC elastomer it says is capable of withstanding frigid outdoor and rugged industrial conditions while at the same time offering both flexibility and flame performance. The 72 Shore A compound is UV-stabilised and has a brittle point of -65 °C or below, the company said, adding that it provides flexibility, tensile strength and oil resistance.
Applications include cables for wind turbines, industrial automation, robots, controls, sensors as well as other uses requiring high flexibility. Designed to pass the CSA’s FT4 vertical flame test, the material also “provides cold temperature endurance similar to that of thermoplastic polyurethane,” Teknor Apex said.
