Takeover of Mexican extruder maker Johnson Plastic Group

US packaging supplier Tekni-Plex (Wayne, Pennsylvania; www.tekniplex.com) said it has acquired Johnson Plastic Group (Mexicali / Mexico; www.johnsonextrusion.com), a manufacturer of custom, turnkey extrusion manufacturing processes for precision medical device applications. No financial details were disclosed.
The acquisition expands the medical device capabilities of Tekni-Plex’s Healthcare division and broadens its global footprint in that market by adding a presence in Mexico. The deal also brings the company closer to its key customer base in Mexico and the Baja region, Tekni-Plex Healthcare CEO Chris Qualters said. The move is part of a strategy to expand the company’s patient care solutions platform.
Tekni-Plex employs 7,000 at operations in Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Germany, India, Italy, Mexico, Northern Ireland, and the US.
