Utsonomiya PET films plant resumes operations / Exact impact of Japanese disaster on group performance still unclear
About one month after announcing the restart of its quake and tsunami-ravaged PET films plant in Ibaraki / Japan (see Plasteurope.com of 01.04.2011), Teijin DuPont Films (Tokyo / Japan; www.teijindupontfilms.jp/english) said it had resumed partial operations at its Utsonomiya factory in Tochigi prefecture on 30 April. The joint venture between Teijin (Tokyo / Japan; www.teijin.co.jp/english) and DuPont (Wilmington, Delaware / USA; www.dupont.com) added that it expects operations to return to full scale by mid-June. The company said film production at the Ibaraki facility had meanwhile returned to normal.

Teijin DuPont Films added that “the disaster’s exact impact on the Teijin Group’s consolidated business results remains unclear at this stage,” saying it would immediately disclose any possible impacts on its group performance.
