New flame-retardant PC resin for ultra-thin transparent sheet
In response to the increasing demand for ever thinner grades, Teijin Chemicals (Tokyo / Japan; www.teijinkasei.co.jp/english) has introduced a new transparent flame retardant PC resin that can produce extruded sheet just 1.5mm thick. Apart from being environmentally friendly – by virtue of containing neither bromine nor phosphorous – the “Panlite” PC range’s flame resistance level is on a par with UL95V-0.
The company said it will supply both injection-moulding and extrusion grades of the new resin, whose characteristics match those of all other PC resins, including transparency, moldability, stability and electrical properties. Panlite grades are likely to find usage as substitutes for glass components in LED lights and other electrical equipment.
