Romanian pipe producer Tehno World (Baia; www.tehnoworld.ro) can now produce two-layer HDPE pipes with a large diameter thanks to a new extrusion line from battenfeld-cincinnati (Bad Oeynhausen / Germany; www.battenfeld-cincinnati.com). Tehno World, whose facility is located outside Falticeni in the county of Suceava, said it is the only producer in Romania able to produce pipes with a diameter up to 1.2 metres. Most of Tehno World’s extrusion lines are from battenfeld-cincinnati, or include major components from the systems manufacturer.
The extruder was installed last year and produces pipes in the pressure classes SDR 11, SDR 17 and SDR 26. The line includes some fast dimension change (FDC) components and can cover pipe diameters from 900mm to 1,200mm and, with the aid of an extension, diameters from 500mm to 800mm (SDR 11-SDR 26).
The use of mostly ambient air for cooling minimises operating costs and maintenance requirements. The internal pipe cooling also reduces the cooling length, an important factor for Tehno World given its limited hall space. It said the new line from battenfeld-cincinnati can run 1.2 metre pipes (SDR 17) with throughputs above 1,500 kg/h and a cooling length of less than 40 metres.
Tehno World, which currently employs more than 120 people, has a daily production capacity of more than 70 t. It said its vision is to become the world’s leading specialist in top quality PE and PP pipes, as well as products for infrastructural projects.
