Pakistan International Airways agrees to use “d2w” technology in its plastic packaging / Business Dynamics signs deal to introduce oxo-biodegradable bags
Additive supplier Symphony Environmental Technologies (Borehamwood / UK; www.symphonyplastics.com) through its distributor in Pakistan, Business Dynamics (Lahore; www.businessdynamics.com.pk), has entered a three-year agreement with Pakistan International Airways (PIA) for conversion of the airline’s normal plastic packaging into “d2w” biodegradable plastic.
PIA is the first airline to convert all of its flexible plastics to “d2w” oxo-biodegradable technology and can now be certified as a green company in Pakistan by the country’s Environmental Protection Agency as a zero pollution airline. In 2013, the country’s national assembly passed a resolution to ban conventional plastic shopping bags – see Plasteurope.com of 07.02.2013.
Symphony chief executive Michael Laurier said: “We are delighted that PIA have chosen to use d2w oxo-biodegradable plastic technology in their commitment to help protect the environment from accidental littering of plastic, and congratulate them in leading by example.”
