SUPREME CORQ
Graham Partners acquires US manufacturer of plastic corks / New plant in Belgium
US plastic cork manufacturer Supreme Corq (Kent, Washington / USA; www.supremecorq.com) has been acquired by Graham Partners (www.grahampartners.net), a private equity affiliate of Graham Packaging (York, Pennsylvania / USA; www.grahampackaging.com). The acquisition will give Supreme Corq, which bills itself as “recognised world leader for the production and distribution of premium synthetic closures used for sealing fine wines and spirits,” the operational, financial and technical resources to “accelerate its product portfolio and geographic expansion,” said president and CEO Bob Anderson.
The cork manufacturer, which supplies injection moulded corks to 1,200 wineries in 30 countries, recently opened a EUR 1m plant at Tournai / Belgium, where closures made in the US are printed and coated. Supreme Corq produces two sizes of driven corks (38 mm and 45 mm) and a T-Top (pull cork) closure directly to customers through regional sales managers, distributors, and agents worldwide. The company has manufacturing and warehouse facilities in the United States, Belgium, Chile, and South Africa.
