Expansion in the area of injection moulded plastics packaging / Jotipac take-over
With the acquisition of its competitor Jotipac (DK-8900 Randers; www.jotipac.com) for DKK 620m (EUR 83m), Superfos Packaging (DK-2950 Vedbæk; www.superfos.com), one of the largest injection moulding companies in Europe, is expanding its position in the market for consumer packaging materials. Jotipac is a producer of injection moulded boxes, cups and lids for dairy and ice cream products, salads, sweets, sauces, shrimps and many other foodstuffs. Its list of customers includes names such as Arla, Nadler, Bofrost, Haribo, Van Houten and Kraft Jacobs Suchard. The company operates 127 injection moulding machines and had a turnover of DKK 510m (EUR 69m) resulting in an operative profit of DKK 75m (EUR 10m).
Superfos has 16 production sites, 15 of which are situated in 10 European countries, and sales outlets in 15 countries. The company´s turnover amounts to approximately DKK 1.9 bn (EUR 255m), the number of employees amounts to 1,800. Every year, more than 80,000 t of plastic material is processed mainly by injection moulding but also by blow moulding and thermoforming. The company´s main products are plastics containers and cups, portion packs, bottles and pharmaceutical packaging. Superfos Packaging is a member of the Industri Kapital (67%) and Ratos (33%) investment companies. The Jotipac take-over is planned to go ahead by the end of February if Due Diligence and the responsible authorities give their agreement.
