UK EPS maker Sundolitt (Sterling; www.sundolitt.com) said it plans to open a new purpose-built production facility in Corby, Northamptonshire, early next year, a move expected to add “significant production capacity”, although it did not provide any further details.

The firm, which makes a range of EPS products for construction, civil engineering, and packaging, said the 11,000m² factory was the result of the largest single UK investment made by its Norwegian parent Sunde (Ålesund; www.sundolitt.com). Financial details were not disclosed.

In a statement Sundolitt said it would “absorb the production from our Gateshead factory to the new site, which will be one of the most advanced production facilities in the EPS construction industry”. The Gateshead facility closed at the end of 2019. A company spokesperson said the move to Corby would enable the company to service the entire UK more easily and reduce its carbon footprint.

Sundolitt reported 2021 sales at GBP 9.2 mn (EUR 10.6 mn), adding that pre-tax profit was GBP 2.4 mn.
