To mark its presence in Czech and Slovakian markets, the German-Japanese injection moulding machinery manufacturer Sumitomo (SHI) Demag Plastics Machinery (Schwaig / Germany; www.sumitomo-shi-demag.de) has set up a sales and service subsidiary in Prague / Czech Republic, Sumitomo (SHI) Demag Plastics Machinery Česko. David Svoboda has been appointed MD of the new subsidiary, which will be operational from 1 April 2021. The German company had set up a sales subsidiary in Italy (see Plasteurope.com of 15.05.2018) in 2018 for the same reasons.
Siegfried Köhler, corporate sales director at Sumitomo (SHI) Demag, said, “We regard both the Czech Republic and Slovakia as important growth markets. This is despite the current weakness in the automotive sector.”
Last year, Sumitomo (SHI) Demag increased its market share due to an extensive number of multiple injection moulding machine orders from the packaging, medical technology and electronics sectors (see Plasteurope.com of 15.10.2020) and reported a 24% increase in orders, till August 2020.
