Huge order volume for German plant / Playmobil manufacturer orders additional machines
German-Japanese plastics machinery manufacturer Sumitomo Demag Plastics Machinery (Schwaig / Germany; www.sumitomo-shi-demag.eu) has seen orders for its small machines produced in Wiehe / Germany double year-on-year. With numerous orders from both domestic and international customers, the Wiehe facility currently operates at a very high utilisation level. The group said it has received a string of orders from emerging market countries, including China, Mexico and Turkey, as well as from more established markets in the US, South East Asia and Europe.

The toy manufacturer last saw revenues crack the EUR 500m mark – see Plasteurope.com of 31.01.2011 – and last year alone ordered some 50 machines from the Schwaig-based manufacturer.
Sumitomo Demag’s plant in Wiehe produces and develops all-electric injection moulding machines of various clamping forces, all of them earmarked for the European and North American market.
