Huge order volume for German plant / Playmobil manufacturer orders additional machines
German-Japanese plastics machinery manufacturer Sumitomo Demag Plastics Machinery (Schwaig / Germany; www.sumitomo-shi-demag.eu) has seen orders for its small machines produced in Wiehe / Germany double year-on-year. With numerous orders from both domestic and international customers, the Wiehe facility currently operates at a very high utilisation level. The group said it has received a string of orders from emerging market countries, including China, Mexico and Turkey, as well as from more established markets in the US, South East Asia and Europe.

In mid-May Sumitomo Demag received another substantial order from long-time client geobra Brandstätter (Zirndorf / Germany; www.playmobil.de) – the manufacturer of “Playmobil” – for 50 hydraulic Systec machines. The toy manufacturer last saw revenues crack the EUR 500m mark – see Plasteurope.com of 31.01.2011 – and last year alone ordered some 50 machines from the Schwaig-based manufacturer.
