SUMITOMO DEMAG
Agreement with Spain's Mecman Industriyl for machinery distribution and after-sales service
After having shut down its Spanish subsidiary this year, Sumitomo (SHI) Demag (Schwaig / Germany; www.sumitomo-shi-demag.eu) now has entered into an exclusive agency agreement with Spain’s Mecman Industrial (Barcelona; www.mecman.es) for the distribution and after-sales service of injection moulding machines in Spain.
Owner-managed Mecman has a workforce of 40 employees and has been active in the Spanish automation engineering market as well as in the design of machinery and equipment for decades. Sumitomo says Mecman will offer the entire array of services previously available from Sumitomo (SHI) Demag Plastics Machinery SL, some of whose staff has already joined the new business.
Sumitomo’s workforce of more than 3,000 develop and manufacture a range of all-electric, hybrid or hydraulic injection moulding machines with clamping forces from 180 kN to 20,000 kN. The company operates four production bases in Germany, Japan and China.
