SUMITOMO DEMAG
Cooperation with French robot producer Sepro
Injection moulding machine manufacturer Sumitomo (SHI) Demag (Schwaig / Germany; www.sumitomo-shi-demag.eu) has entered into a cooperation with robot manufacturer Sepro Robotique (La Roche-sur-Yon / France; www.sepro-robotique.com) to expand its range of three-axis robots using Sepro units. SDR series robots have been added to six injection moulding machines in Sumitomo Demag’s “Systec” and “Intelect” ranges with clamping forces of between 350 kN and 20,000 kN.
The robots are controlled by Sepro’s “Visual 2” control system, which interacts with the Sumitomo Demag machine through a "Euromap-67"-Interface. The aim is to integrate the entire system into Demag’s “NC5” control system in the future.
To date, Sumitomo Demag machinery included “DR7” and “DR8” robots, developed in cooperation with Wittmann (Vienna / Austria; www.wittmann-robot.de). The manufacturer intends to continue offering systems operated by these robots in the future.
