The Italian manufacturer of plastic household and garden products, Stefanplast (Villaganzerla; www.stefanplast.it), has announced the acquisition of compatriot company Giganplast (Mezzago; www.giganplast.it). No details regarding the purchase price have been disclosed.

Giganplast specialises in plastic products and containers for the HoReCa (hotels, restaurants, and catering) sector. Its product range includes reusable crates, draining grids, and kitchen utensils. The company produces around 6,000 items daily at its headquarters site and recently generated revenues of EUR 8 mn.

With this acquisition, Stefanplast is strengthening its position in a fast-growing and strategically important market, according to a spokesperson for the Stefani family, which has run the company for three generations.

Stefanplast’s machinery includes 44 injection moulding machines, with a production capacity of 15,000 t of finished goods. The company, which employs 190 people, recently recorded a turnover of EUR 43 mn.
