Indian conglomerate SRF (Gurgaon, Haryana; www.srf.com) said it has just started a brand new production site for biaxially-oriented polyethylene terephthalate (BOPET) in Jászfényszaru / Hungary and has invited potential clients to contact its sales people. The SRF Hungarian unit said on its website (www.srf-hungary.com) that it manufactures the same BOPET film produced at SRF’s factories in India, Thailand and South Africa. The thickness ranges from 8-50 microns, with widths at 350-3500 mm for transparent films and 350-2800 mm for metallised ones.
Earlier reports said the BOPET production line has a width of 10.4 m and an annual capacity of 40,000 t. Including the Hungarian factory, SRF’s plants will have a combined annual capacity of 220,000 t of BOPP and BOPET films, making it one of the biggest producers of both types of films. The investment was pegged at EUR 60m but according to India Info Online, the amount was now EUR 80m (see Plasteurope.com of 22.06.2018).
