The previous owners of rotational moulder Dan-Hill-Plast (Hornsyld / Denmark; www.dhp.dk), Lone Madsen and Peter Madsen, have sold the company to the SP Group (Søndersø / Denmark; www.sp-group.com) for DKK 65m (EUR 8.7m). They will remain part of the company’s management upon completion of the transaction, reports Danish plastics association Plastindustrien (Copenhagen; www.plast.dk).
Customers from various industries commission products from Dan-Hill-Plast. The company also produces boat fenders that are sold worldwide. “The acquisition accelerates the growth of SP Group,” said the new owner’s CEO Frank Gad.
Dan-Hill-Plast was acquired via SP’s subsidiary Gibo Plast (Skjern / Denmark; www.gibo.dk), which is part of the group’s plastics processing segment in its vacuum moulds and extrusion business, along with Plexx, Opido, SP Extrusion and Nycopac. The segment also includes polyurethane and composites (with subsidiaries Tinby, Ergomat, TPI Polytechniek and MM Composite), injection moulding (SP Moulding, Ulstrup Plast, Coreplast, SP Medical and Kodan Plast) and blow moulding (MedicoPack). The group also has a segment for surface treatment that consists of its Accoat subsidiary.
Besides Denmark, the SP Group operates plants in Brazil, China, Latvia, Poland, Slovakia, Sweden and the US as well as distribution and service companies in various other countries. The group’s workforce totals 2,000.
