Belgian PU foams, sealings and adhesives manufacturer Soudal (Turnhout; www.soudal.com) has acquired Polish family-owned industrial adhesives manufacturer Zaklady Chemiczne Bochem (Suskowola; www.bochem.pl) for an undisclosed amount. This is Soudal’s third acquisition this year, following its purchase of its Australian distributor in April and its June purchase of US-based Accumetric Group.
Established in 1991, Bochem produces industrial adhesives for the automotive, construction, shoe and furniture industries. Its 88 employees post sales of about EUR 6-7m, of which about 40% are generated by exports to central and eastern Europe. The company’s two production plants are located in Pionki, about 100 km south of Warsaw. Following the acquisition, Bochem will continue to operate under its own name and with its existing management as a wholly owned subsidiary of Soudal.
The 2014 purchases are expected to raise Soudal’s turnover by more than EUR 80m this year, meaning the company expects its total sales to come to EUR 570m. Counting the latest acquisitions, the Belgian group now operates 16 production units across the world, with a total workforce of more than 2,100.
