Antioxidant capacity increase in Korea completed / Two enhanced Songnox grades
Songwon Industrial (Ulsan / Korea; www.songwonind.com) has completed the expansion of its antioxidant capacity from 55,000 t/y to 70,000 t/y at its Maeam (Ulsan) / Korea facility ahead of schedule – see Plasteurope.com of 23.11.2010. The expansion was achieved through the consolidation of “Songnox” 1076 production into the fully backward integrated plant.
As a result of the work, the company has introduced two enhanced physical forms of the antioxidant – “Songnox” 1076 SB (semi beads) and 1076 CP (crystalline powder), making the material more robust and easier to handle. Jongho Park, chairman and CEO of Songwon Industrial said: “We previously announced the start-up of the new capacity to be on stream in August 2011. Our technical and manufacturing teams have exceeded expectations and the new capacity start-up commenced smoothly on 20 July 2011 and is now in full production. We believe Maeam is now not only the biggest plant in the world dedicated to polymer antioxidants, but also one of the best manufacturing platforms delivering unequalled consistency and reliability of supply.”
