Plans for PEKK production in the US / Composites for aerospace market
Chemicals group Solvay (Brussels / Belgium; www.solvay.com) plans to start US production of polyether ketone ketone (PEKK) in Augusta, Georgia, in early 2018. "This new capacity will address fast-growing demand for thermoplastic composites and 3D printing components in aerospace and in other markets," says Roger Kearns, member of Solvay’s executive committee.
The high-performance plastics will be marketed under the "NovaSpire" brand. Solvay did not provide any information on the planned capacity. At the site in Augusta, the Belgian group also produces PEEK and LCP.
