SOLVAY
Buy-in of Canadian composites manufacturer Aonix complete
Solvay Specialty Polymers (Alpharetta, Georgia / USA; www.solvayspecialtypolymers.com) has completed its acquisition of an unspecified stake in Canadian advanced composite materials and manufacturing systems provider Aonix Advanced Materials (Ottawa; www.aonixcorp.com) – see Plasteurope.com of 31.10.2013.
Aonix CEO Jerome Le Corvec said the deal – for which no price tag has been announced – gives his company ready access to the Belgian group’s “extensive portfolio of polymers and world-class expertise.” It broadens the range of applications available to users of its turnkey solution for mass production of ultra high-performance thermoplastic composites (UHPC).
Augusto Di Confrancesco, president of Solvay Specialty Polymers, said the cooperation with the Canadian firm will allow it to market products much faster, in higher volumes and at a lower cost compared with conventional epoxy-based systems.
