SOLVAY
Automotive air systems and technical parts to Mann + Hummel / Focus on core businesses
To focus on core businesses in automotive components, Solvay (B-1050 Brussels; www.solvay.com) has agreed to sell its automotive air induction systems and technical components activities to Mann + Hummel (D-71638 Ludwigsburg; www.mann-hummel.com). The segment, expected to generate EUR 150m in sales this year, develops and manufactures plastic components for engine air induction systems, reservoirs and tanks, engine covers, HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) and engine cooling ducts, as well as windscreen wash and headlamp cleaning systems. Production facilities are in France, Germany, Spain, the UK, the US and Brazil.
Acquiring these activities represents a further step in Mann+Hummel´s globalisation drive, the company said. The deal, which is subject to approval by cartel authorities, also will help the German group to complete its product range and strengthen its market position in air induction systems in Europe and North America.
