Conductive films capacity acquired in Taiwan
Solutia (St. Louis, Minnesota / USA; www.solutia.com) has acquired additional production capacity for high-tech conductive films from Aimcore Technology (Hsinchu / Taiwan; www.aimcore.com.tw/e), a manufacturer of indium tin oxide (ITO) glass. The US performance materials and specialty chemicals company said it paid approximately USD 3.4m (EUR 2.4m) for the assets, which will significantly expand the production of its “Flexvue” film components. Earlier this year, the US group had acquired select assets of Aimcore – see Plasteurope.com of 29.03.2011.
Located in Taiwan, the new capacity is expected to come online by the fourth quarter of 2011.
Solutia said it is expanding its high-tech conductive film manufacturing operations in Asia-Pacific to support the region’s fast-growing mobile electronics and smart window markets. Flexvue film components are used in touch screens, solar applications, smart windows and e-readers.
