SOLUTIA
Acquisition of selected assets of Taiwan's Aimcore Technology / Expanding its foothold in the Asian film market
Speciality chemicals manufacturer Solutia (St. Louis, Minnesota / USA; www.solutia.com) has agreed to acquire several assets of Taiwanese conductive film manufacturer Aimcore Technology (Hsinchu; www.aimcore.com.tw) for USD 7m. The deal will raise the US company’s manufacturing capacity for its proprietary “Flexvue” film components, used in touch screens, solar applications and e-readers. The new capacity, due to come on stream in H2 2011, will fall under Solutia’s Performance Films business unit.
The purchase will add new state-of-the-art equipment and expand Solutia’s film manufacturing operations in Asia, freeing up US manufacturing capacity to support North American demand for the company’s premium window film components, Solutia said.
