Russian films producer to invest EUR 3.6m in new plant in Togliatti / Plans to capture 5% stake in domestic multilayer film market by 2020
Russian PP and PE film and shrink film producer SoloFilmz is investing RUB 300m (about EUR 3.6m) in a new plant, to be located in the special economic zone (SEZ) of Togliatti / Russia, located on the Volga river near Samara and the country’s border with Kazakhstan. Plans for the facility, nameplate capacity of which was not disclosed, were approved by the SEZ’s supervisory board in mid-December. Once the facility begins producing packaging tape and labels in late 2016, it will create about 50 new jobs, a press release by the SEZ said.

A subsidiary of Russian label and packaging producer SuperPrint, SoloFilmz produces packaging for food and non-food items for a range of leading companies, which are said to include Danone, Mann+Hummel and local mineral water producer Volzhanka. Parent company SuperPrint reportedly plans to capture a 5% stake of the Russian multilayer film market in 2020, and is said to be targeting Coca-Cola and Pepsi in particular.

Alex Pakhomenko, general director of the Togliatti SEZ, welcomed SoloFilmz’s decision to locate its plant in the zone, saying that it will attract other investors and hopefully extend the range of goods produced in the SEZ, which is currently specialised in the automotive sector.
