Snecma Propulsion Solide (Le Haillan / France; www.snecma-propulsion-solide.com) has created an aeronautics and composites division to supply civil, military and government clients with design and production expertise in the use of composite materials for use in aircraft. The company specialises in the design and manufacture of solid rocket motors and the production of high performance thermostructural composites for rocket propulsion.
It has extended the application of these materials in civil and military aircraft engines and helicopter turbines to other hot components such as the afterbodies and nozzles.
